The Pontifical Mission Societies (Propagation of Faith: Pauline Jaricot, 1818; Holy Childhood: Bishop Augustus de Forbin-Janson, 1843; St. Peter the Apostle: Jeanne and Stephanie Bigard, 1896; Missionary Union: Fr. Paolo Manna, 1996) are the tools of informing the people of God of the life and needs of the local and universal church. They create missionary awareness and arouse a true spirit of communion among the people of God as one family in mission. They are the best means to assist individuals for each to play his or her role in carrying out the universal mandate of Christ: “Go therefore to the ends of the earth, make all the nations my disciples.” Mt. 28:19. They are the ‘’participation of the people of God in the Church’s inner renewal and in her responsibility towards the Gospel.” Colzani G.; Omnis Terra, April 2004, p.145.
